Between Space & Memory

I grew up in a city that I was not allowed to see.

I caught glimpses of the city through the windows of our car. A fantasy world grew in my mind, a city constructed by my own reality, but beyond the confines of my tangible environment.

I begin to fear now that the Kathmandu that existed in my games of make-believe will disappear. That my experience of the city today will erase the memories of what I thought the city might have been.

I made these pictures to capture the nostalgia of my past imagination before the reality of my adult life could wash it away. A record to capture the vague half-images of an adolescent playing pretend.
